This page says what this site collects, what it does not, and what you can do about it. It describes what the site actually does today — if that changes, this page changes with it.

The short version
Guanacaste Experiences is an independent travel guide run from Guanacaste, Costa Rica. We do not ask you to create an account, we do not run ads, and we do not sell, rent or share your personal information with anyone. We do not take payments — every booking happens on the operator's or platform's own site, under their terms and their privacy policy.
Analytics, and your choice
We use two analytics tools, and they behave differently.

Cloudflare Web Analytics runs on every page. It sets no cookies and does not fingerprint or track you across sites. It counts page views and where traffic came from.

Google Analytics 4 runs only if you press Accept on the cookie banner. Until you do, nothing is requested from Google at all — no script is loaded and no data is sent. If you press Decline, or simply ignore the banner, Google Analytics never starts.
If you accept, Google Analytics sets two cookies — _ga and _ga_XCDXJQ2412 — which distinguish one browser from another so visits can be counted. Google's consent signals for advertising and ad personalisation stay switched off either way; we do not use Google Analytics data for advertising.
To change your mind at any time: clear this site's data in your browser and the banner will appear again on your next visit. Your choice is stored in your own browser (in localStorage, under cookie_consent) and is never sent to us.
Booking links
When you click a booking button, the link passes through this site before forwarding you to the operator or booking platform. We record that a click happened so we know which pages are useful. That record contains the tour or item clicked, the page you clicked it from, your browser's user-agent string, and the time.
It does not contain your name, your email address, your IP address or any identifier that follows you between visits. The record includes a session field, but it is always empty — the cookie it was designed to read is not one this site ever sets.
Once you land on the operator's site you are subject to their privacy policy, not ours. Booking platforms we link to — including Viator and, for local partners, TrekkSoft and Peek — typically set their own cookies so they can attribute a booking to the site that referred you. That is how we may earn a commission on some bookings, at no extra cost to you.
Other services that see your request
Loading any page necessarily reveals your IP address to the services that deliver it. On this site those are:

Cloudflare — hosting, CDN and security for every page.

Google Fonts — the two typefaces the site uses.

Tripadvisor's image CDN — many tour photographs are served from it.

Google Analytics — only after you accept, as above.
What we do not do

No accounts, no logins, no passwords.

No advertising, no ad networks, no remarketing or audience lists.

No newsletter and no mailing list — we have nothing to subscribe you to.

No selling, renting or sharing of personal information.

No payments taken on this site, so no card details ever reach us.
Children
This site is aimed at adults planning travel and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.
Your rights
Because we hold no account and no contact details for you, there is normally nothing personal for us to look up, correct or delete. If you believe we hold something about you, or you want the analytics record of your visit removed, write to us and we will deal with it. Depending on where you live you may also have rights under the GDPR, the UK GDPR, Costa Rica's Ley N.º 8968 or similar law — including access, correction, deletion and complaint to a regulator.
