Founded more than ten years ago on a simple idea — good food and good people — and run by Chef Yamil and his wife Shannon. Now serving breakfast, lunch and dinner at the Dunama hotel above Playa Flamingo.
Cana Tico was founded more than a decade ago on a simple idea: good food and good people. Chef Yamil built it around the community it sits in rather than around the tourist calendar, and ask locally where to eat pizza between Flamingo and Potrero and this is the name that comes back. The menu bears that out — eleven pizzas, seven house Platinum combinations and a calzone, sitting alongside the steaks, seafood and pasta. The name pairs Canada with Tico, and the kitchen means it. There is poutine on the menu, a few lines below the ceviche. Yamil runs the place with Shannon. They live a few minutes up the road in Playa Potrero with their two boys, which is how a restaurant ends up knowing its regulars by name. Cana Tico now runs the restaurant and bars at the Dunama hotel in Playa Flamingo, open for breakfast, lunch and dinner with the bay in front of you.
