Flamingo Adventures is a locally run tour company in Playa Potrero, next to Playa Flamingo, operating since 2009. Its guides take ATVs and side-by-sides (UTVs) up the hills behind the coast — to a 1,240 ft lookout over Danta Beach and Las Catalinas — with stops at small north-coast beaches along the way.
Routes run from a one-hour sunset ride to full-day ATV and catamaran combos, and there are ATV and UTV day rentals if you’d rather explore on your own. You book and pay directly with Flamingo Adventures through the links below.

Frequently asked questions
Where do Flamingo Adventures tours start?
Most start at their office on the main road in Playa Potrero, near Hotel Bahía del Sol; some start in Playa Flamingo. Transportation isn’t included on most tours, so ask about pickup when you book.
What’s the difference between an ATV and a side-by-side (UTV)?
You ride an ATV like a motorbike, with a passenger behind you on tandem models. A side-by-side has seats next to each other, like a small off-road car, so you can ride together.
How old do you have to be to drive?
You must be at least 16 to drive an ATV or a jet ski, and you need a valid driver’s licence. Younger children can ride as tandem passengers on some tours — check with Flamingo Adventures for your group.
Can I rent an ATV or UTV without a guide?
Yes. Flamingo Adventures rents ATVs from $160 a day and Honda side-by-sides from $280 a day. Deposits are refundable: $800 for a standard ATV, $2,000 for a 700cc ATV and $2,000 for a UTV. UTV delivery is available.
Can you ride on the beach?
No. Driving on the beach is prohibited by Costa Rican law. These tours ride mountain trails and back roads, and stop at beaches where you can swim or snorkel.
