About this tour
Our take
Five hours out of Playa Flamingo built around two 40-minute snorkelling stops, at the Catalina Islands and North Island, with gear, a driver-guide, snacks and pickup from selected areas. Time in the water is what you are buying: there is no open bar or hot meal, unlike the Playa Hermosa catamaran, which sails, snorkels and stays out for the sunset. Our catamaran guide has more on the Catalinas.
During this tour, you will will be able to do two 40-minute snorkeling dives and enjoy the beautiful marine species of Catalina Island.

Rated easy by the operator — no particular fitness level needed, and a reasonable pick for a first activity of the trip.
At 5 hours, it leaves the rest of the day free — easy to pair with a beach afternoon.
Free cancellation on this listing, which matters in the green season when an afternoon can turn wet.
Getting there
This tour runs in the Flamingo & Conchal area, about 1 hour from Liberia International Airport (LIR) depending on traffic and your exact hotel.
When to go
Underwater visibility is the thing to plan around. The Papagayo winds stir the water from about December to April, and the calmest, clearest mornings tend to fall in the green season from May to November. Giant mantas are most often seen at the Catalina Islands between November and April.
